ROLE:
Flocc is a social networking app that takes meeting new people to the next level by making it a shared adventure with friends. Instead of awkward one-on-one encounters, Flocc brings groups together, making it easy to turn digital matches into real-life experiences like game nights, concerts, coffee outings, and adventures.
Designed to foster authentic connections, Flocc goes beyond traditional swiping to create a more collaborative and natural way to socialize. With friend-approved matches, users discover romantic interests or new friendships in one welcoming space—always with better vibes and meaningful interactions from the start.
Creating Flocc—a group dating app—came with unique hurdles in an already crowded and competitive landscape. We had to differentiate meaningfully while addressing both user behaviors and market perceptions:
Dating app fatigue: Overcoming skepticism from users already burned out by traditional swipe-based platforms.
Safety positioning: Framing group dating as a safer, more comfortable alternative—particularly for women—without alienating other demographics.
Market saturation: Standing out in an oversaturated dating app ecosystem where new entrants struggle to capture attention and trust.

Results & Early Traction
Despite early challenges, Flocc quickly gained momentum and validated its core concept with the right audience. By leaning into Gen Z behaviors and positioning the app around community-driven dating, the team achieved promising results:
Rapid prototyping validated: Early UX designs were tested and refined based on user feedback, confirming strong interest in group dating.
Targeted GTM with Gen Z: Launching with college students proved spot-on—the app resonated with how this audience already approaches dating.
Community-first approach: A waiting list strategy ensured new users entered an active, vibrant community instead of an empty app.
Momentum on campuses: Flocc communities are now gaining traction across U.S. college campuses, laying the foundation for viral growth.
